ITV fined for I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! incident

ITV is fined for animal cruelty on I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!

Two contestants killed and ate a rat with a knife when they were left without meat.

Chief Inspector David Oshannessy from the Australian RSPCA said ITV was fined £1,903 and will have to pay $2,576 in costs.

He said: "Legislation says that an animal can be killed for human consumption provided it does not cause unnecessary suffering. Had it been killed and it was over and done with, we might not be having this conversation."

Apparently the animal took 90 seconds to actually die.

ITV apologised in December and said it would ensure that nothing similar happened in future episodes.
