Virgin Media links up with Google for new email service
16 April 2009 12:35

Virgin Media is launching a new email service to its customers in conjunction with Google.

Under the new service each user will be given more than 7GB of storage with an email address ending @virginmedia.com.

The new facility is being launched in addition to the existing search partnership between the two companies.

Alex Green, executive director of online for Virgin Media, said the new service is rich in features and easy to use.

Leaving the door open for further potential collaborations, Green added: "We look forward to exploring future services with Google and continuing to deliver market-leading communications and entertainment to our customers."

A technology expert this week suggested the boundary between conventional television and broadband internet services are set to become increasingly blurred.

Brian Turner, executive director of Techwatch.co.uk, stated that the internet is fast becoming a media centre in its own right in the home.
